About Aporia Press

Aporia Press is the name for the self publishing endeavours of Marcel Guldemond. The first items published were mini-comics like Resonating Transparent and Bill. These were followed by the Xeric Grant winning Under a Slowly Spinning Sun in 1999, and Aporiatica, which was published by Cyberosia Publishers in 2001. Comics were previously published online at www.serializer.net and have since been collected in dot dot dot.

In addition to graphic novels, short stories and mini-comics, Marcel Guldemond also produces small-scale oil paintings for giving away or for hanging out with and slightly unsettling illustration prints for a daily dose of bemused bewilderment. While the graphic novels are full of art that ranges from the distinctly philosophical and the quietly contemplative to the flat out poetical, the paintings are simpler and more straight forward in their appreciation of some of the good things in life. A distinct lack of attention span has caused subject matter to include, among other things: Canadian landscapes, French philosophers, flowers of all kinds, interpersonal situations (tense and otherwise,) motorcycles, goldfish, Argentinean writers, poetry, insects and astronauts.
